Okay so everything arrives within a few days after ordering, I ordered a pair of these, One for myself and one for Alex, but I figure while you have 2x identical tablets in the house, it would be interesting to benchmark the supplied operating system against the modded one.

Having never done anything with smartphones or tablets, I was a little nervous about doing this, especially after reading that some people have permanently bricked their tablets trying to mod them. However after 30 minutes of playing around with the tablet led me to the same conclusion as the product reviews I had read, the stock operating system leaves a lot to be desired, and needed replacing.  The guys over at the slatedroid forum provide a lot of great documentation, which provided a foundation for this article, and it was the helpful and informative nature of their community, that convinced me to buy one of these tablets in the first place.

Okay, so what do you get for your money.

The Tablet comes well packaged, and the box contains everything you need to get up and running instantly.  Aside from the tablet itself, you get the power adapter (Both UK and Continental, which is handy if you take this thing on holiday), and a USB cable.  Also provided is a quick-start guide that provides no useful information except how to plug in a plug in 18 different languages, and your manufacturers 1 year warranty, which we are going to instantly void by modding the device.  The only thing I would have liked is a Mini-HDMI to regular HDMI cable to plug this thing into the TV, but for the price I am really not going to complain.

Now, onto the dissection...
